Privacy Policy
Last updated 25 July 2026
This policy explains how The Wild Dot Works ("The Wild Works", "we", "us") collects and uses your personal data. It covers both this website (thewild.works) and the Wild Jam app. Questions? Email hello@thewild.works.
This website (thewild.works)
If you fill in a contact or enquiry form on our website, we collect the details you provide (such as your name, email address and message) so that we can respond to you. This information is stored in our HubSpot customer database and is used only to reply to and manage your enquiry.
Our website is built on the HubSpot platform, which uses cookies to keep the site working and to help us understand how visitors use it (for example, which pages are viewed). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
We link to our shop on Etsy. If you make a purchase there, that transaction is handled by Etsy under Etsy's own privacy policy; we do not receive your card details.
The Wild Jam app
Account information
When you create an account we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google. Within the app we store the jam batches you log in your Journal and your app preferences (units, temperature, theme, jam mode and favourite ingredients).
Usage and analytics
To understand how Wild Jam is used and to improve the app and our flavour suggestions, we may record in-app activity — such as which fruits, herbs and flavour-pows you select, which combinations you build (including experimental combinations outside our suggested pairings), which screens you visit, which features you use, and when you save or rate a recipe. These events are stored with your account identifier and a timestamp in our own database (Firebase Firestore, London region). We use this data ourselves and in aggregate — to see which ingredients and combinations are popular, how people move through the app, and where we can improve it. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with any third-party analytics service.
Content you create
The recipes and notes you save in your Journal belong to you and are stored so we can show them back to you across your devices. We may use aggregated and de-identified insights from app content (such as which saved combinations are most popular) to improve our recipes and suggestions. We do not sell your content and we do not use it for advertising.
Technical and device data
Like most apps, we may collect basic technical information needed to run the app and diagnose problems — such as your device type, operating system and app version, an approximate region derived from your internet connection, and diagnostic or crash data if something goes wrong. We do not collect your precise location.
Payments
Subscriptions are processed by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details are entered directly with Stripe and are never stored on our servers; we retain only a customer reference and your subscription status so we can give you access to the app. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by its own privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Where your data is stored
Your account data, journal and usage events are stored in Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), in the europe-west2 (London) region. Firebase is operated by Google LLC and is subject to Google's data processing terms. For more information see firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
Why we collect it (lawful basis)
We process your data to provide the app under our agreement with you — for example, syncing your journal and preferences across devices and sending transactional emails such as verification or password reset. We also process data on the basis of our legitimate interests in understanding and improving the app and in preventing abuse of our free trials, and, where the law requires it, with your consent. We do not use your data for advertising and we do not sell your data to anyone.
International transfers
Your core app data is held in the UK/EU (the London region). Some of our providers — such as Stripe and HubSpot — may process limited data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. If you have used a free trial, we retain a one-way hashed record derived from your email address to enforce our one-trial-per-person policy. This record contains no readable personal information, cannot be used to identify or contact you, and is kept even after you delete your account, on the lawful basis of preventing repeat trials.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account), or by emailing hello@thewild.works. Deletion removes your profile, journal and usage data within 30 days, except for the anonymised trial marker described above.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, request deletion of your data, and download a copy of your data in a portable format (available via Settings). You also have the right to object to or restrict certain types of processing. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@thewild.works and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe your data has been handled incorrectly.
Children
Wild Jam is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with their data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Cookies and local storage
The Wild Jam app uses local storage on your device to keep you signed in and remember your preferences between sessions. Our website uses HubSpot's cookies as described above. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or website. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
